Description
Sirocco is the Mediterranean name for the wind that brings the African heat and sand across the sea, from the south. Yet millions of years ago, hot upward currents of wind carried winged lizards, pterosaurs, through the sky. One of them was Siroccopteryx. With a wingspan of four or five meters, it soared like an albatross over the water surface, hunting small fish and cephalopod molluscs. Nowadays, sharp, long teeth found in the Cretaceous sediments of Morocco remind us of it.
