Description
Sea lilies are one of the most spectacular fossils, which are used in interior design.
It is hard to believe that these graceful stems and flower-like corollas are not the result of the work of an artist, but of nature itself. No less surprising is the fact that sea lilies are not plants at all, but animals related to starfish, trepangs and sea urchins.
Unlike their crawling relatives, crinoids enjoy “a sedentary lifestyle”, anchoring themselves to the sea bottom with their “legs”. With the help of their branched corolla-like hands, they filter out nutrient particles from the water stream. Bright, colorful colonies of crinoids have graced coral reefs for 450 million years.
Sea lilies from Holzmades are specimens, which can be exhibits of the world museums. It is a real exclusive, the possession of which only a few can boast.
