Description
Tooth of Albertosaurus, a member of the tyrannosaurid family from North America. The tooth has the shape of a narrow, curved blade, significantly flattened laterally. Such teeth were convenient for holding prey and tearing off pieces of meat. A sawtooth notch, characteristic of tyrannosaurids, runs along the posterior edge of the tooth. The recess at the base of the tooth is left for the next young tooth growing below. Dinosaur teeth changed constantly, and the young tooth gradually pushed the old one out of the jaw, replacing it.
